From International Astronautical FederationPRESS RELEASE Global Lunar Conference To Be Held In Beijing, China, From 31 May To 3 June 2010 Paris, France (IAF PR 04-2010), 26 May 2010 - The International Astronautical Federation (IAF) has for the past eighteen months been planning a major space exploration conference, the Global Lunar Conference (GLUC) that will be held in Beijing, China from 31 May to 3 June 2010. It is being organised by the IAF and the Chinese Society of Astronautics (CSA). This event will also encompass the 11th International Conference on Utilisation of the Moon (ICEUM) organised by the International Lunar Exploration Working Group (ILEWG). The Global Lunar Conference focuses on one of the major challenges of the next decade: Moon Exploration. GLUC provides an opportunity for each agency to present their plan for return to the Moon. This year at GLUC, China will reveal its objectives for lunar exploration. Space-faring nations and new actors will give the last updates on their lunar exploration programmes and ambitions for the future. More than 400 papers have been accepted for the conference covering lunar and other space exploration topics, and we anticipate that approximately 500 space programme officials, industry leaders, educators, students and press representatives will attend the four-day event. The international space community will present initiatives, exploration steps and objectives. Topics including navigation, communication and moon exploration will be addressed, along with presentations on the latest areas of research. The Global Lunar Conference opening ceremony will feature the following prestigious speakers:
