Welcome from the IAF President The 60th International Astronautical Congress in Daejeon has many new features, which will contribute to a better Congress with more value to you. One of the innovations is in front of you: for the first time the Second Announcement Part 2 will be available online.
As the Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea, I am very much delighted that Daejeon will be the venue of the 60th International Astronautical Congress.
It is my great pleasure to announce that the 60th International Astronautical Congress will be held in the Republic of Korea. This year, as we recognise the 60th anniversary of the IAC and the 40th anniversary of man’s first lunar landing.
In Korea, the ‘age sixty’ in life represents the completion and beginning of a cycle of the universe; therefore, we plan to make the 60th IAC a special festival and event that participants will remember along with Daejeon, the host city, for a long time.
IAC 2009 is being organised by the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI). Daejeon is the third-largest city in South Korea, home to many of Korea's hi-tech industries. IAC 2009 will provide an international focus for the global space industry, academic researchers and students worldwide through the presentation of the latest ideas, current activities and future ambitions across a diverse range of space-related topics. The theme for the 2009 Congress will be "Space For Sustainable Peace and Progress." Attending IAC 2009Day-by-day GuideN.B.
